Avery Fisher Hall - Durufle Requiem - May 29, 2011

Choir, we have an exciting opportunity to travel as a group and perform the Durufle' Requiem in Avery Fisher Hall on May 29, 2011.

It will work something like this:

• we will sing the Durufle' Requiem on Memorial Weekend in Lincoln Center
• Samford Choir(s) will join us at the end of their Spring Tour - we will meet in New York to rehearse together and perform the work on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
• Other choirs may join us:  South Highland Presbyterian Choir (my church) and any other local group that may be interested.
• We will learn the Durufle Requiem and perform it as the "Alabama Symphony Orchestra Chorus" with members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra on February 18, 2011 in Birmingham.  Then, after we perform the Beethoven works on May 21, we will travel to NYC on Thursday, May 26 to begin our residency in New York.

Here are extensive details on the cost of the trip.  We can talk about airfare and other details soon.  I will need to know if you are interested soon and the first deposit is due on September 20.

Some of the members that have been in the choir for several years will recall that this was my first experience in leading the group when we travelled together in 2006 to sing the Mozart Solemn Vespers in Carnegie Hall.

Audition Results Still in Process!

We know that you are anxious, but Dr. Philip Copeland is still deliberating the results of last week's auditions - along with still scheduling a number of folks who were unavailable last week. So, we need to beg your patience and hope to be in contact with you tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest.

ALSO, regarding the Mozart scores - some things are still up in the air - but I've been accumulating a list, if you have contacted me, and will get back to you with details as soon as I know something.
